The Power had a blatantly uninspired performance against the league's best. The Arizona Rattlers jumped on turnovers early and used them to start their blowout victory over the Power 68-34 in maybe the worst game the Power have played all season. Because of the Cleveland Gladiators' loss to the Philadelphia Soul on Friday night, the Power had much less to play for and they showed it. Bernard Morris overthrew receivers constantly and opened up questions about his health yet again. The offensive line didn't help Morris at all and kept him running for his life all day. The defense couldn't get any pressure on Rattlers' QB Nick Davila and the secondary was porous. New defensive backs Durrell Oliver and Bryan Williams were horrible, but the biggest letdown was the number of offsides penalties against the Power. Terrance Carter and the gang to need to step back, regroup, and focus, and get ready to make a run at the postseason. The Power, for all intents and purposes, need to win out to make the playoffs and it starts Friday against the division leading Gladiators (8:00 P.M., NFL Network).
The Jacksonville Sharks locked up the number one seed weeks ago so here is what the other contenders' schedules look like heading into Week 19 and how they can clinch a playoff berth:
vs. Pittsburgh Power (8-8)
vs. Utah Blaze (7-9)
Can clinch division with a win
@ Cleveland Gladiators (9-7)
@ Philadelphia Soul (6-11)
Cannot clinch a playoff berth this week
@ Tulsa Talons (7-9)
vs. New Orleans VooDoo (3-13)
Can clinch a playoff berth with a win
@ Tampa Bay Storm (6-10)
@ Iowa Barnstormers (5-11)
Can clinch a playoff berth with a win and a Cleveland win
The Pittsburgh Power must win this week against Cleveland and either win next week against Philly or pray that Cleveland loses to a tough, but beat up Utah team. They cannot make it in without winning their division.
