Relax Philadelphia fans. No need to get your panties in a bunch. The above picture is in no way meant to say the Pirates are better than the Phillies. It's actually to say that all Pittsburgh sports are better than all Philadelphia sports.
Ok. Now you can go ahead and bunch up those panties again.
A recent poll conducted by Public Policy Polling asked which professional sports team in Pennsylvania was the voter's favorite. They gathered these results:
Even with one less team in the state, Pittsburgh teams still earned 8% more of the vote than Philadelphia. The Steelers are Pennsylvania's favorite professional sports team. 30% of voters in the state pick them, followed by 22% for the Phillies, 12% each for the Penguins and Eagles, 6% for the Pirates, 4% for the Flyers, and 2% for the 76ers. For those keeping track that's 48% of voters in the state choosing one of Pittsburgh's 3 teams to only 40% picking a Philadelphia team even though that city has 4. Advantage Steel City on that front.
What's stunning to me is that our hockey team tied their beloved football team, and our baseball team and its 18 consecutive losing seasons ranked higher than their hockey team that was coming off a Stanley Cup Finals appearance.
Now just heap this onto Pittsburgh's title dominance, (World Series: Pirates 5, Phillies 2; Stanley Cups: Penguins 3, Flyers 2; and my favorite Super Bowls: Steelers 6, Eagles 0) and there's no argument left about which side of the state rules Pennsylvania.
And if you aren't one of the 2%, please don't bring up the Sixers, because literally nobody cares.

Wow! I live in Ohio and never would have imagined those kinds of numbers ( and numbers don't lie )! If they would have ran that poll in OH10, The Buckeyes would have blown any professional sports team our Godforsaken state has out of the water! If I could bring the Buckeyes with me, I'd move to Western PA where other WINNERS live!
