Week 2 Steelers Pregame

As we've all seen, heard, and read ALL about, the Steelers got blasted in week one. It wasn't just a loss, the Ravens opened a can of whoop... butt on the Steelers. This week everyone agrees, including the odds-makers who made the Steelers early two touchdown favorites, that the Steelers will right the ship this week. I'm very much on board with that thinking.

Observations from the past week:
  • It's nice to see that a lot of media members still believe in the Steelers. I'd say it's probably a 50/50 split. I think a lot of them just have the "Devil's Advocate" way of thinking, meaning that they're only disagreeing with the majority because they want to disagree, but I'm not complaining.
  • One of those media members that don't believe in the Steelers is Warren Sapp. While the guy is entitled to his opinion, it takes a lot of guts to make the claims that he did. This is the same guy who couldn't figure out that he was too old to play the game anymore. I doubt the Steelers hold any of his words in high regard.
  • The Steelers need to quit whining. Ive always believed that if you have a problem with the way calls are going you absolutely should complain publicly. That's the best way to make your point and have your voice heard. Well, this week that backfired twice. First, the Steelers were disappointed that only their players were fined. This turned out not to be the case when a Ravens player was also fined. Second, the Steelers complained about "illegal" chop blocks... only the blocks weren't illegal. There is no doubt that all chop blocks should be illegal, but some aren't. And when the Steelers didn't know the rule it made them look dumb. I'm of the firm belief that the NFL is actually out to get the Steelers and lets teams, especially the Patriots, get away without a scratch, but sometimes you have to pick your battles and this isn't that time.
  • Speaking of whining, I really hope the Steelers rub it in on the Seahawks. I have nothing against the team, but man are their fans babies. They're still complaining about the blown calls in Superbowl XL. They weren't blown calls people! Don't believe me? Go to amazon.com, buy a copy of the game in its entirety and watch it again. If you can't see it, then you're simply a fan blinded by your own love for your team or hatred for the Steelers. And Bill Leavy please stop adding fuel to the fire by apologizing for a call you got right. It's sickening already.

What I'll be looking for this week:
  • No huddle offense - They should run this all of the time anyway. Bruce Arians is a horrible offensive coordinator (yeah I see you rolling your eyes). The Steelers win, but how can't you with that much talent. I think it's really indicative of just how good a quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is. And when he calls his own plays that offense is just magic.
  • Turnovers galore - No, not the Steelers. Even though with seven last week, I could see why you would think that. The Steelers should be able to force turnovers after they force the Seahawks to make Tarvaris Jackson throw.
  • That's it - Seriously? Yeah. Overall I just want to see them improve on last week. A big win is likely and anything less than a two touchdown game will be disappointing

Prediction:
  • Steelers 34, Seahawks 10
